Differences between Public Holidays and Statutory Holidays
Public Holidays (“Bank Holidays”)
Definition: According to government standards, public holidays are days when all banks, educational institutions, public agency offices and government departments must observe as holidays. Although public holidays are holidays for the above institutions, in practice, these institutions also approve paid leave for employees on these days. Many enterprises and commercial institutions also allow employees to take paid leave on public holidays*.

Statutory Holidays (“Labour Holidays”)
Definition: All employees, regardless of length of service, are entitled to the following statutory holidays.
